Management Accountant full time

Reports to:
Financial Controller

Purpose:
The Management Accountant role is key to providing support to the Financial Controller with monthly management accounts, forecasts, budgets & KPI monitoring.

Main Areas of Responsibility

  • Provide assistance in preparing the month end management accounts for the UK site within set, tight deadlines
  • Prepare and present supporting schedules explaining the period's performance alongside any variance analysis
  • Work with the Financial Controller and MD to assist in the production of the Quarterly Business Review analysing past performance and preparing robust forecasts for the remainder of the financial year and outlook for future financial years
  • Monthly and Quarterly reviews on balance sheet accounts to ensure proper reconciliations
  • Design, maintain and monitor both existing and new KPIs across the business to assist the senior management team in monitoring performance
  • Assist with the calculations of monthly payroll for the site
  • Liaise with external auditors regarding the statutory audit of the accounts for the UK business
  • Work as part of a flexible team to ensure the smooth daily running of the department, covering for other staff members in times of absence on all areas of the finance function
  • Form relationships with parent group personnel to assist with the production and reporting of information to group
  • Deputise for the Financial Controller in times of absence or unavailability

Key Performance Indicators

  • Overall team production of the Management Accounts pack within agreed Group deadlines
  • Accurate and timely production of analysis and information
  • Design and implementation of various KPIs within agreed timescales
  • Cohesive membership of the overall finance team

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • AAT qualified or CIMA/ACCA part qualified, but QBE will also be considered
  • Advanced level Excel skills capable of dealing with large volumes of data and effectively analysing
  • A good level of IT systems knowledge to enable sourcing and extraction of pertinent information
  • Knowledge of working IQMS manufacturing and accounting system would be a big advantage
  • Previous experience of working in a small, close knit finance function
  • Up to date knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS
  • Previous experience of working in manufacturing or FMCG desirable, but not essential
